Pedro's Son
In the scene after the beach, Pedro's son is obviously in pain. I can't figure it out. Did I miss something?

Pedros son, Rupert, gets taken care of by Elsa after the army kills his mother. The first time we see Rupert and Elsa together, Elsa is warning him to stay away from the fire, or he'll get sick again, just then Pedro rolls up and asks the boy if he's taken his medicine today.
When Pedro gets paid and Ivan is complaining about their cut, Pedro tells Jose that he "has to pay the doctor for this Wednesday, ya know." Then when he goes to pay Jose the bribe money, he tells Jose "my baby ill" and he can't pay all of the bribe money, to which Jose tells him he wants "$15, and no sob story."
When Ivans on the run Pedro drops by to see Rupert, who's in bed, and Elsa says that "he's far gone", and Pedro says "if we dont' have to give him more blood everything be alright".
Pedro's son was very cute. You can tell that the father and son loved each other very much. A relationship you don't see too often in movies.
I don't know what his illness was but I got the impression he was near the end.
