BOYCOTT!

People, let's just BOYCOTT the *beep* movie!

I've often thought about trying to organise a boycott via IMDb in order to take a stand against Hollywood for all the *beep* *beep* remakes they are churnng out, and this one in particular is as worthy as it's gonna get. The very fact that Hollywood is remaking this film goes against so much of what the film stood for when it came out, it's a *beep* joke. BOYCOTT IT!!!!!

While we're at it, let's BOYCOTT all other remakes (with the possible exception of The Departed, as Scorsese is a real filmmaker not a hollywood slave like most directors who end up doing *beep* *beep* remakes).

It seems that Hollywood have complatetly run out of original ideas and are exploiting the cinematic ignorance of the mass public by just rehashing old ones over and over again. I SAY BOYCOTT!!!! The reason they keep getting away with it is that people ARE going to see the *beep* *beep* remakes so let's BOYCOTT!!!!!

It's up to the real cineastes to put an end to this cinematic crime spree! BOYCOTT!!!!!!!!!!!

Pass this on, let's *beep* do this thang!

Chances are the remake won't hit production anyway.

But even if it does, it's not like it can change a single frame of the original classic.

How can they do a remake this film is impossible to remake , omg than k you bring it to my attention I agree boycott this movie is not remake material it is a cult classic one of a kind

Why don't you create a petition to boycott it? Just go here:

In every creative field most ideas are a combination of many earlier thoughts.

The idea of true originality is a romantic myth at best.

As someone else said, a re-make wouldn't alter one single frame of the original.

Stop living in the past and glorifying the old. Doing that prohibits new interpretations, new ideas, new art.

'In every creative field most ideas are a combination of many earlier thoughts.'

that is true but a remake is much more than that it's a f_ck up, look at godzilla, the italian (but actually in LA) job, that f_ckin awful remake of king kong etc...

i aggree that in film being original is dam near impossible but films like THTC believe it or not WERE original, in that they broke new ground for black music/film at the time the were released. a remake in this day and age has none of the relevance that made the original a cult classic...

F_CK HOLLYWOOD! lol

Did y'all like SCARFACE (1983)? That was a remake. How 'bout THE MALTESE FALCON, since someone mentioned it on another thread here. That was a remake too. FIST FULL OF DOLLARS? Remake. Lottsa folks don't like Branagh's FRANKENSTEIN, but it's as close as we'll ever get to the novel, and in some ways I dig it more than the James Whale version which was also -- thats' right -- a remake of a silent movie. I agree that the majority (i.e. 51% or more) of remakes are unnecessary, but there are exceptions to every rule, including the "No movie should ever be remade" rule. ...In fairness to the O.P. though, I strongly doubt anyone could remake THE HARDER THEY COME.

If you had seen what the "remake" was going to be, you wouldn't have compared it to the ones you did.

The project died, thankfully, and the IMDB page was pulled. Here is an earlier post with the casting call notice:

Dufus, the film's being made independently, stop being such a whiny crybaby.

reply

You're quick to call the OP a Dufus, this thread is about another film from 9 years ago that ended up being scrapped. It has nothing to do with the Trudie Styler (in collaboration with Perry Henzell's daughter) updated version of THTC which has been in the works for a while now. I think you're confusing that with the film this thread is about.

Who's the dufus again...?

Man without relatives is man without troubles. Charlie Chan

reply

I could not understand why the OP wants to boycott this movie. It is not the remake.

It's that man again!!

reply

This thread and a few others from around that time were about the remake. What better place to discuss the aborted 2004 disaster to be than on here?
