A horrible movie, one of the best MST3K episodes EVER

It's wonderful. The host segments, the riffing, it's a great episode. One of my top 3.

And 1yr, 3months later you get a reply!! I just bought a copy on ebay. Should be here soon. My son, and I love Godzilla vs. Megalon, and I can't wait to see the MST3K episode. My son is 4, and has not seen MST3K yet. I think he's gonna love it! Also, if you can recommend other great episodes of MST3K.. Please do.

Okay, here's a few. One of the worst movies ever made, and I do not jest, Manos: The Hands of Fate. It's on single Rhino DVD. Another famous one is Space Mutiny, and not to mention Overdrawn at the Memory Bank, both of which are on Volume 4. Pod People was a classic, from Volume 2, Also, Time Chasers, from Volume 5, there's a few.

I will check'em out, Thanks. I noticed there are tons of MST3K collections on amazon.com. I plan on dumpin some bucks to collect them all.

Oh yeah, there's loads. They used to sell complete seasons (minus the Rhino released eps) on eBay, but not anymore! I think it may have been outlawed or something.

Yeah, Mitchell was one snoozefest. It was Snoozetoberfest!

The MST3K version of 'Godzilla vs. Megalon' was hilarious. I love the "English-translated" subtitles for the Japanese Jet Jaguar song.
-Jet Jaguar? Jet Jet Jaguar! He's got a smile like Jack Nicholson!

Mitchell is actually the best episode of MST3K ever made.

It is absolutely genius, though it may not seem so upon a first watching. It is Joel's last episode for a reason.

I used to feel like it was a Snoozefest (as well as The Brain That Wouldn't Die, which I now like alot), but I warmed up to it. You have to respect the fact that the entire point of all the jokes is to call Joe Don Baker a fat slob, while incorporating classic MST3K signature riffs.

But then again, I also find "Hellcats" to be absolutely genius, and "Space Mutiny" and "Hobgoblins" way overrated. So maybe my opinion doesn't mean so much!

I'm not sure if all these are on DVD yet but here are three of my favorites.

"It Conquered the World"-- Check it out just for Peter Graves speech at the end. I also have to admit I'm biased because my brother's letter he sent in was read on that episode.

"Eegah"-- This film costars Richard Kiel(Jaws from two of the James Bond films) as a caveman.

"The Robot vs. The Aztec Mummy"-- This was the very first episode we saw and have been hooked ever since.

I was disappointed with the movie and the MST3000 treatment. I chuckled a bit but this is about the least funny that I've seen.

This is definately one of my all time favourite episodes of MST3K.
The translation of the Jet Jaguar theme is hilarious. The
"Rex Dart, Eskimo Spy!" segment is gold!

Others that top my list are Manos: The Hands of Fate,
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (I got those 2 in a double dvd set,
well worth the money!), and of course Mitchel.
Pod People is another one I could watch over and over.
Keep circulating the tapes! (or digital rips thereof)

Is this included in any of the MST3K DVD sets?

reply

It was available in Vol. 10, but only for about 6 weeks, before it was pulled off the store shelves. It seems that the company that sold the DVD rights to the movie to Rhino didn't really own the rights, and Toho filed a lawsuit against them and Rhino for copyright infringement. Rhino immediately pulled the entire volume, eventually re-releasing it with "Giant Gila Monster" replacing "Godzilla vs. Megalon". Luckily, I did purchase the volume when it first came out, so I can enjoy it again and again.

Cripes, I hope someone puts up the full MST3K ep on Youtube or somewhere online someday. I'm kicking myself for getting into the show so late (when the Rhino sets are long OOP and expensive online), but mainly missing out on the original Vol. 10.

Yippee-ki-yay, pastel-colored resistance!

Saw the movie months ago and loved it (for its badness); saw the MST3K episode yesterday and loved that even more.
