The Prostitute in David Warners segment is very cheap

£5 and no hurry! She's cheaper than a large double whooper with cheese meal at Burger King

Baby, you make me wish i had three hands.

reply

VAT was cheaper in those days.

Yep things were cheaper in the seventies. A fiver would stretch a lot further than it does today!

Five pounds then is like a million pounds now....

That is 23 pounds in today's money. It was a rotten economy at that time but that's still a stretch.

That job just seems so dangerous to me. Offering to go some place with a random man to have sex, not knowing a single thing about him (not even his name) sounds like you're just asking to be murdered. I realize you have to do anything you can to pay the bills, but it still doesn't seem worth it.

she was pretty though

Then give it up and get a real job. The pay may not be great but it's honest work. Nobody should have to suffer under a huge, heaving job that leaves them with a bad taste in their mouth.

The average wage in 1971 was about £2,000, now the average wage is £26,000 I would say £5 in 1974 was worth about £65 today.

£5 in 1974 was worth £45.07 in 2023. It's still a pretty cheap hooker, I would say. Then again, street hookers are no luxury escorts.
