Why did they need so many guns?

A bit of a spoiler:

Why did the bank robbers need new guns for each job? I know they wore different outfits and masks for each job so they might not be fingered as the same crew, but except for the one that was used to shoot someone, why would they need more if none of them were ever fired?

There's a scene where Eddie drops the last load of pistols to Scalise in the trailer (where we learn of Wanda's switch-like libido) in which Scalise comments on needing extras in order to wipe and dump any actually fired but also to have back-ups lying around like on the floor of the cars.
