'Machine Guns'

All that to-do about M16s. Life in prison for possession of one. But now, thanks to the NRA defending our Second Amendment rights, any robber who wants one can find any assault rifle he wants, along with a kit to make it full auto. Who says there's no progress? Not the crooks!

reply

Don't know where they came up with "machine guns" but I never heard of M-16s being referred to as machine guns back in the day.

It's a pretty broad use of the term, but M16s on full auto would be considered "machine guns" for the purposes of guys like these.

You think "robbers" couldn't find "assault rifles" without the NRA or without any gun-rights initiatives over the past however many years? Really?

Also: What is your definition of an "assault rifle," specifically?

No, I'm not even close to being against reasonable gun-control measures. I'm talking about definitions and arguments that make sense, though.

reply

The Brown Bess was designed as an "Assault Rifle"
