Good film, but about that opening...

All the stuff with Lee's mentor (the old man in red), and then the stuff with Lee's young protege -- with all the dialogue about fingers and moons -- it was just a weird and (sorry) awkward way to begin the film.

Anyone else agree that the beginning could've been better?

The scene with the old man was a deleted scene that has been reinserted. The pacing was definitely better without it.

The scene with Lee and his young protege is one of the best in the movie, I can't picture Enter the Dragon without it. I used to laugh hysterically every time he smacked the kid.

I believe both of those scenes were Bruce Lees direct influence, because of his love of philosophy.

those are key scenes in the movie, without them, you don't know what the movie is about.
