Where is the widescreen DVD!

I recently saw Electra Glide In Blue on a pay cable channel. It was shown letterboxed and looked great. I can't believe that this is not out yet--especially with all of the attention on Blake right now. I think the guy is innocent, by the way. It just doesn't make sense that he could have been the shooter considering that he had to go back inside the restaurant for his gun. Phil Specter blows some girl away and he's out on bail immediately. Blake spent a year in jail trying to get released. What's up with that? He looks like this ordeal has taken its toll.

For those still wondering, MGM is putting out a letterboxed DVD in March.

Sure wish I'd seen this before ordering a bootleg copy online...

wide-screen comes out March 22.

Finally, it's coming out! I've already ordered my copy. LOVE this movie. I remember seeing it when it came out in 1973 (I was 10) and it's always been a favorite.

It's a dreadful shame that the version they released was that with the heavily cut final scene. Guercio himself said that there were "dupes" of the shooting in the movie which he was forced to cut because it appeared too violent. It's a pity, because that would have added to the shock at the end of the film.

The UK VHS (although panned and scanned) has one of the "profile" shots at the ending, and as such has a more powerful effect on the viewer.

Are there any plans for a Region 2 DVD release ? Widescreen of course.

$65?? You can go to Circuit City or Target with $28 in your pocket and get a Cyberhome CH-DVD300 or CH-DVD320 player. It is multi-voltage, multi-region, multi-video standard, progressive scan in both PAL and NTSC and finally, it converts PAL to NTSC and vice versa. Performance through the component out is superb. The player comes as a region 1 machine, but can be converted via the remote control.

Just to reconfirm, this is a Multi Region DVD player via the remote?
I was trying to get a nice close up shot of the remote on the cyberhome webpage, but can't.

Come February 2006 and there is still no news on an R2 release of this. Let's hope that when/if it finally comes, MGM use the 18 classified cut of the movie and not the US PG R1 version.
