Something Minor Things I Noticed That Others Might Have Missed

Hello all. I've been a fan of this film since the mid-80's,
but on my most recent HDTV view on TCM ( just a few nights ago )
I noticed two things I've never noticed before, & thought I'd
share. If this has already been mentioned & is old news,
well - oops, sorry! Anyway...

01: In Jeannine Riley's bar scene when she's dancing up to
Robert Blake, there's a stoic dude in the right frame sitting
behind the pinball machine. Weird!

02: In the final shot, right before the freeze-frame,
a bird ( vulture? ) can be seen flying in from the right
frame. At the exact moment it reaches the spot where
Robert Blake is, the freeze-frame occurs. Perhaps this
moment of awesome serendipity ( I'm assuming ) is why
Guercio chose to allow the shot to go on so long in
the final cut.

Don't you just love HDTV?

o1: the stoic dude is just passed out from drinking, which is why they don't pay him no mind!

O2--I saw the bird at the end, too. Wonder how they did that...

The stoic dude by the pinball machine was another guy from the city of Chicago named Bob Zemko.
Apparently they liked him a lot. They put him in the movie and his name was also used for the character played by Chicago lead vocalist Peter Cetera.
Click on his bio He was a local hero with a tragic story.

02: I know this is an extreme BLAST FROM THE PAST, but I just re-watched the ending, and BY GEORGE you are RIGHT!
GREAT CATCH! And I think you're right, it was serendipity, and that's why Guercio let the shot go on that long.
