Dated, Low Budget, But Strangely Cultish Following...
True story... ;) Like many of you, this flick traumatized the bejeezus out of me as a kid. But my first exposure to it, had nothing to do with seeing it.
A grade-school buddy at the time, had cable, whereas I did not. She was keen on traumatizing herself with scary movies: sneaking downstairs, staying up late hours, running up psychiatric bills for her parents...
Anyhoo, her idea of therapy was unloading all the imagery onto me, the next morning. In juicy, and possibly overblown, detail. (It did not help matters that my fam lived in a dilapidated colonial field-stone...the "haunted house" of the neighborhood. So if those demonic little #$%#ers lived in any basement on our block, IT WAS OURS.)
So for slightly weirder reasons, I share y'all's morbid fascination with this turd---er, gem, of the B-horror genre.
Any word on whether the 2005 remake is going to be any good?
