Why didn't it make the Bravo Channel's Top 100 Scariest Moments?

I don't know if anyone else caught the Bravo Channel special last night on the Top 100 Scariest Moments, but I was really disappointed that this movie didn't make the list. As I sat through the special, I thought for sure that they would include this classic. If they are planning a remake of this movie, you'd figure enough industry insiders would at least give it an honorable mention.

Well, it IS a little obscure. Made for TV; not re-run terribly often (thank GOD!); and devilish hard to get on video.

Granted, out of the group of kids who watched the original airings in the 70's, apparantly EVERY SINGLE ONE was traumatized for life. ;)

So I'd say, blame it on under-exposure.

(Just out of curiosity, how many years did this make *YOU* sleep with the light on? lol)

I was one of the children. Truly, still traumatized! I picked up the movie again on video and still, it scares me. Tiny demons plotting demise...what could be more scary? Especially if the house you grew up in had a chimney. I was so freaked out by my chimney after that! And Uncle Charlie's bad acting...that was still scary even years later. ;-)

Well,a few of those movies mentioned on that list
of Scariest Movies are obscure themselves,so I
don't see why they couldn't put this movie on that
list! I mean, how many people do you know have seen
PEEPING TOM or DON'T LOOK NOW?!

reply

Peeping Tom and Don't Look Now are much, much more well-known. Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark is a little-known unavailable TV movie. Peeping Tom and Don't Look Now were theatrical films which are widely available on DVD, and both were the subject of much controversy upon release.

Firstly, I think they were concentrating solely on thetrical releases.
Secondly, as stated by others, it's not a widely known film.
Thirdly, they had to make room for the mainstream Hollywood shlock movies like "The Ring" and "Blair Witch."
