Seeing Movies Like This

There should be a cable channel that shows movies like this (Old TV movies from the 70's) and maybe also CULT films. Are there any channels like that out there?

reply

I don't know -- but its a very GOOD idea.

I wouldn't mind if they showed OLD horror flicks as well (1920s-1950s), though not precisely the same thing. But should focus on the psychological aspects of supernatural horror, ghost stories, etc. of the '70s -- you know, the early modern period, when color was first becoming the norm, and they weren't afraid to show REAL supernatural horror on primetime T.V.

Such a channel that showed this material (cult movies and horror classics especially from the '70s) would certainly be in demand and financially successful.

I notice on TCM they are showing the movie "I Bury the Living" tonight (or Sat. morning)at 2:00 A.M. 3/10/07
It is a pretty good flick if you like that sort of thing.

As far as your reply, I think you have a great idea for a channel.THE HORROR CHANNEL??perhaps.

By the way,I was watching a local independent channel a few weeks ago and they were showing "When Michael Calls." hadn't seen that one in awhile...

They did something similar to this. It's called the Sci-Fi Channel. I loved it! Used to show some great old Sci-Fi shows. Don't remember too many classic movies being shown, It was the shows that stood out. Now I don't even bother to see what they have on. Oh, I know what they're showing, I'm just not really that interested. You'd think they could find some time to show the classics.

I would love to see a sci-fi/horror/cult classics channel. Movies and TV shows, But I fear it would degenerate into blandness like most channels do.

They're not all old, or necessarily cult films, but Chiller is a good horror channel (and the only one of which I know). They show movies and series.

There were some VERY scary made-for-tv movies in the 70's! I'd love to see a channel devoted to them...or a weekly gig on TCM.

Yes -- take Salem's Lot, for instance. You may not REMEMBER it as being all that scary, but it's scarier/creepier than about 80% of what's out there today. Even by today's standards. It would compete nicely in movie theatres. And I remember it being on just at twilight for two nights in a row in November, 1979, made for (prime time) television.
