I think you've definitely 'mastered' this, andrsbckly.

In the first place, your creatures (Kobolds) are INSTANTLY recognizeable as the Dont-Be-Afraid-Of-The-Dark fiends.

Secondly, they have the features Nigel spoke of -- maybe they could be made more wicked with the pointy ears, etc. as Nigel may have had that in mind, but I think they are perfect (and ultimate) just as they are.

You've inspired me to eventually make a model -- as you can probably tell it usually takes me a while. But now I see that it's been done.

Thanks for sharing your pictures, you are a true artist and I greatly underestimated you.

well thanks.
I also cut an eyepiece from a pair of reading glasses and attached it to a plastic tube and it snaps onto my POS digital camera so now I can take close up shots, the close shots I posted were here taken with this close-up lens attached.
I spent more time on the figures than I should have; you can't clearly see it, but they also have blisters and bubos and scars, oh my.

When I am through showing them off to my buddies, I will send them all to Nigel Mckeand and make it a x-mas gift. The figures are a little below 7 inches, and I reworked the 'warrior' weapons for them, including attaching a real chain for the mace and 2 wicked extra arrows for the bow-wielder.
The eyes are pre-painted BB's, and I attached the fur with contact adhesive, NOT rubber cement. They are not very posable; the heads were sculpted from 'model magic fusion' which I then coated with 2-ton epoxy, the foam sculpted over the original heads. this made it easy to 'pop' the heads back on and they rotate o.k. I pushed the BB's in before the foam dried to make a good 'socket'. the eyes were then removed given a clear coat with 'window maker/clear parts glue', after they were painted in place, for glossiness. The figs were 3$ for all, 2.50 for the faux-fur, same for the foam and I already had the cheap paints, all from wal-mart. I used 'apple barrel' paint for details and spray yellow.
Total money spent probably less than 10 $!
just wanted to show it coukld be done cheap.

here are some shots of my rocketeer model I was working on at the same time as the critters, it's 16 inches tall and I even cut out the eyes in the helmet for tinted plastic lenses I made from cream-soda 2-liter bottle; got it from thailand, was a real pain to work with-

Nice work on the creatures. Could you imagine if parents placed those things in their kids bedrooms after the movie aired?

Ok, I'm freaking myself out...

Thanks, I DID send them off about 2 week ago, and got a letter from Nigel praising and thanking me, and that letter is now with my precious objects collection.

I love them--absolutely LOVE them, masterpieces! I smell eBay in your near future.

many thanks, but my creations become my children, don't mind giving them away but can't bring myself to sell them-
I appreciate it-

Great job. Those look remarkable.

Thanks, I should have mentioned they are only about 7 inches in height, but i think I did a good job considering everything came from walmart and the dollar tree... total cost was about 8$ including the 'spartan' action figures I used..

The only limit is the one you place on yourself!
Best part was the letter from Nigel, though.

andrsbckly,

Great job on the figures! Creepy just looking at the pictures. This film scarred me for life man. I wrote a review for the film here.

Since you mention Walmart & dollar tree....would you happen to live on long island, new york?

reply

No, I live in Columbus, Georgia.....that's halfway between Atlanta and HELL. Just kidding....it's halfway down the chatahoochee...and thanks. The longest part was making the heads; I took the original figure heads and sculpted foam-clay on them, then epoxy/paint.
