Remake opening in theaters January 21st 2011

According to IMDB the remake will open in theaters on January 21, 2011 and stars Guy Pearce (The Hurt Locker), Katie Holmes and Bailee Madison as the little girl who is the protagonist.

Katie Holmes I can take or leave, Guy Pearce has turned good performances in the past. Could be a good movie or not. I'm certainly interested because the story has a lot of potential, it just wasn't given the chance to reach it's full potential in it's original outing as a 1970's t.v. movie made in two weeks.

I feel bad that they didn't credit Nigel McMeand as one of the writers since it was originally his story. I hope they at least credit him with the story idea. He had a clever idea.

It's obviously been changed quite a bit but the news story that IMDB links to from the new movie's page does state that it is based on this film. Hmmm.
