Probably been asked before, but why?:
Book - Kowalski, Per Jensen, Jacqueline, Alexander Duggan
Movie - Wolenski, Per Lundquist, Denise, Paul Duggan
I don't know. That is just the way movies do things for some reason.
In the 1979 film Salem's Lot, adapted from the book by Stephen King, one of the characters is called Jason Berk. In the book, he is Matt Burke. Why?
I haven't been able to figure it out either.
