I just couldn't get past the English accents, so gave up after five min. despite the good reviews and nice looking cinematography and editing.

Use your imagination. Pretend they're actually talking in French, but you (the viewer) are listening to it in English. Is it really that big of a deal?

Only too bad if you want to decimate the viewing audience who could see it undubbed or subtitled. It was made from British material with American backers so it seems reasonable for them wanting to understand their own work.
