I love discovering 'new old films' I had never heard of.


I saw this on Netflix and said to myself " Hmm..I don't recall ever seeing nor hearing of a Walter Matthau film with this plot." I am SO glad I watched this. I'm not in the mood for any kind a of a big write up, but suffice to say: Great Acting, Great Plot , Great Direction, Music...it's all there.

Given I was only 9 in 1973, I can see why I might have missed it. I did go to the movies a lot tho. Very surprising find. I've never heard it come up in any film discussion. Odd.

I discovered this gem on late night TV in the early 90s.

i bought the DVD ten years later and have watched it annually ever since.

Great movie that could only come from the early 70s.
