One of the best movies I've ever seen...
...and I am the type preferring Rambo/Star Wars/Terminator. I am NOT given to the cinematic flights of emotional fancy.
A first-class thought-provoking tearjerker. Well done in every sense.

I usually hate romances that have a huge age gap, I generally find it disgusting for various reasons. But I found this film very genuine and endearing, it's quite toned down and melancholic. I really enjoyed this underrated film.
shareI've just seen it on Blu Ray.
WOW, what a great, delicate, moving, sweet, charming, beautiful movie!
Kay Lenz and William Holden are just PERFECT...incredible that they didn't get Academy Awards nominations for their performances, they were so good and natural!
Eastwood's most underrated movie.

A really enjoyable movie. Eastwood made several movies in the 70s and 80s as a director (and sometimes also as an actor) which were quite interesting. Apart from Breezy, Honkytonk Man and Bronco Billy come to my mind. In these and similar movies we see the main characters trying to go through life on their own terms, not without difficulties, but always with a positive attitude and trying to be fair to themselves and others. This is why I enjoy so much the movies from that era.
Breezy is rather slow-paced which is quite relaxing these days. The dialogues are interesting, and although there were a few situations where the typical cynism from Eastwood's movies could have been appropriate, it is absent or not so apparent here.
I'm not normally a fan of these types of films, either. I doubt this film could have been done much better. It's so well acted and paced, there are a few surprises. The chemistry between Holden and Lenz is what makes it worth watching. 9/10
shareI just saw it for the first time, on TCM, and enjoyed it very much. The potential problems of the age difference were discussed by the characters, so it wasn't as if the movie was pretending it didn't exist.
shareNice! I'll have to watch this sometime.
