Wow, 10 minutes into this movie and they've already shown a dead dog, a dead catfish and a dead cow. Lovely.

I'll agree on the dead cow. The dog was supposed to be dead, not sure it was. The catfish wasn't dead. If you watch you can see it move it's gills after it hits the ground. In the movie she says it was sick which I'm sure was supposed to convey an insight to her character that it wasn't dead when she tossed it out.
