Why can't they release the 1973 episodes on DVD?
Although Wendy and Marvin were quite annoying, they still should release these episodes on DVD. They have already done so with two other versions, so why not this one?

shareI agree, I want them. I think that they just want us to forget about Wendy and Marvin or pretend that they never existed but I enjoy the episodes that they are in.
shareI believe that these episodes are the only ones that have not yet been released. I want them to complete my collection!
shareActually, we are missing more than half of the series:
-Super Friends (1973-1974) - 16 ONE-HOUR EPISODES
-The All-New Super Friends Hour (1977-1979) - NEED VOLUME 2 (REMAINING 32 SHORTS OF THE SERIES)
-The Worlds Greatest Super Friends (1979-1980) - EIGHT NEW EPISODES CREATED FOR THIS SERIES
-The Super Friends Hour (1980-1982) - 42 NEW SHORTS PRODUCED OVER 2 SEASONS
-The Best of Super Friends (1982-1984) - 24 NEW SHORTS PRODUCED ("THE LOST" EPISODES)
I'd love to be able to complete my SF collection.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
thanks for listening
Since you post Volume 2 of the all new super friends has been released and the "lost" episodes. the first 8 episodes of the original series incoming to dvd in January leaving the last 8 episodes of the original series, the World's Greatest Super friends and the 42 episodes of the Super Friends Hour.
sharei like the skrinking one. I love be dollsize.
shareWell, they seem to think there is less of a buying audience, so they started with the most popular series. The second release didn't do very well, but they are releasing Legendary Super Powers, then Galactic Guardians, which are the next in poularity. Maybe someday. Hey, they are releasing the Filmation stuff.
shareThey are currently showing the Wendy and Marvin version at midnight on Boomerang, I am recording them to DVD.
share"Maybe someday. Hey, they are releasing the Filmation stuff."
They'll release it someday. They are just releasing the most popular versions first. They are going to release the other hour long program "The All-New Superfriend Hour" so they will eventually get to this one.
My cable company refuses to add Boomerang to it's package. I wish they would.
shareI agree. We love the heroes and it is super cheesy too!
shareMaybe our patience has paid off. The Digital Bits is reporting the release of the first season on DVD in January 2010. I don't know exactly what will be on it but it would seem to be most if not all of what you guys are interested in here:

"How do I set a laser pointer to stun?"
Set for Jan 5, 2010 release, it features 8 episodes:
The Power Pirate
The Baffles Puzzle
Prof. Goodfellow's GEEC
The Weather Maker
Dr. Pelagian's War
The Shaman U
Too Hot to Handle
The Androids
The only extra is a trivia challenge. This is volume 1; hopefully volume 2 will be out later in the year.
So, you get the pilot, appearances by Plastic Man and the Flash, and plenty of great stuff from Ted Knight. "Meanwhile, back in the Hall of Justice..."
Wow, just 8 episodes. I wonder what is going on there. Well, 8 is better than what we have now. Like you said, maybe more to come soon after.
Thanks for the update grendelkhan.
"How do I set a laser pointer to stun?"
July 20 is the release date for volume 2, with the remainder of the episodes, including "Planet Splitter", with the retelling of Superman's origin, and "Gulliver's Giant Goof," with Green Arrow. I see they are still using the Jose Luis Garcia Lopez models for the covers, rather than the Alex Toth originals. I know they want a unity in the packaging of the various series, but Toth designed this series and the covers should reflect it.
Edit: With the new cartoon sets on the Warner Archives, they might go this route for the remaining Super Friends material (possibly Shazam? Please?)
