New Animated Star Trek

I think it would be really great if the good people at paramount were to attempt to bring Star Trek back to the animated forum. Star Trek has fallen on hard times of late, with Nemesis only doing fair bussiness at the box office and Enterprise almost being cancelled. I think the problem is the "Berman" interpretation. I have nothing against the man, he is doing something that I can honestly say I probably can't, run an entire creative empire. Yet I think maybe if the original were to return in some way, maybe a new generation of fans can be recruited. The original series does very well in syndication and all of the "Kirk-era" movies did good bussiness at the theaters. So if an animated version of the original were to return, maybe it could save a floundering ship. I personally would like to see a CGI version, ala the Starship troopers series from a few years back.

I have only stated my oppinions and I respect yours.

Mabe they should take the old voices from the first series and work some new animation around them, and have a special editon of the whole series. that would be cool. then again a whole new series would be cool.

I would much rather see a new series, but with the old characters and there doesn't have to be the same actors, or even soundalikes. It would be like whever we get a new Batman or James Bond, sure it's a little different but the spirit is still there.

I want some oppinions people.

They should make a Next Generation cartoon!

That would be more fesable. As all the cast are still alive and in good health. Brent Spiner might not hate it so much as he doesnt have to wear all the damn makeup.

I like the origional animated series though...Not many people watch it...well as much as I (and possibly you guys) do anyway. It has a really nice charm to it.

Well, that AND the fact that many of the TNG cast did (or do) voice acting on cartoons already... oh, it'd be awesome.

That about sums it up :)

I agree that they should reanimate the series. They should also expand the series into 22 hour long episodes. Get Shatner, Nimoy and company back together to recite new dialoge. This way they can put Koenig back into the series. They could then show these episodes just in time for the 40th anniversary in September 2006. They should also get the crew together to create new animated episodes that are based upon the videogames that the actors voiced in the 90s(Star Trek 25th anniversary and Judgement Rites)That way the voices of Deforest Kelley and James Doohan can be used along with new dialoge from the rest of the actors. There are a total of 15 stories/episodes that can be created from this source. All these animated episodes then could hypothetically be called the 4th season(first 22 episodes) and 5th season(next 15 episodes)thereby allowing Kirk and company to complete their original 5 year mission. While I am at it. Is it possible to use modern technology to create the illusion of new live action episodes? Use old images of Kirk,Spock and everybody else from the original show alongside new actors who could play the rest of the crew and various guest stars. They did something similiar to this in Deep Space Nine when they went back to Kirks time to deal with the Tribbles problem. I thought that was a great episode. We also know that they can replicate the bridge of the old Enterprise when Scotty visited the Next Generation. Oh well. That is just my thoughts on the subject.

This is similar to my idea! I should have read this before I posted I guess! Let's get together write to Paramount and see if there is any interest in doing this at all!

I think a different crew would be needed, though I can easily envision guest appearances by cast members from any of the various series including the original Enterprise group, sort of like how they worked it on TNG. I agree that there definitely is room for another animated series however. Maybe we could have the adventures of the Excelsior under Captain Sulu?

Would love to see a new cartoon series...Loved the original so much, waited every saturday morning to watch it.......Like the idea of making a new show with old footage.

Well, it would be nice to have that entire 5 year mission... But it was also be alright with me if they had an animated Star Trek: Titan or Excelsior. If they use the Titan crew from the books, they would be more suited if shown through animation. Some of them probably wouldn't come off very well in live action.

reply

I'm not fond of the idea. I prefer a new live action series or no series for the next ten years.

reply

i would love to see a new animated series of the original series. finish the 5 year mission and so forth. to bad it will not happen. then again, mabe that was there plan when they released the animated series, to build up interest in it.

I am very positive that there is never going to be another Star Trek The animated Series ever made again.

I know there are rumors saying that CBS which now owns Parmount Pictures is saying CBS is considering a new animation star trek series but that is just rumors.

CBS became the new owner of Star Trek Franchise in 2006.

I watched some episodes of star trek the animated series on youtube.

I did not care for the Star Trek The Animated Series.

Perhaps this was because Star Trek The Animated Series aimmed toward kids.

In 2006 CBS released the noncannon star trek the animated series for their
40th anniversary.

If you chose you could write to CBS to ask them to make Star Trek The Animated Series again.

reply

Oh!

Just learned that it was considered at some point by CBS - this news is over a year old though...

The producer of the developing animated show works for Rick Berman. And they're wondering why the studio won't put any money behind it....

reply

My guess would be perhaps they would not be very good voice actors?

reply

The best character (in my opinion) was Bones though and he's dead Jim so it would be a no go for me without him.

reply

Would you watch Star Trek The Animated Series if somebody else played
Dr. McCoy (Bones) voice?

He still can have the same image as he did in Star Trek The Animated Series.

Somebody else would have to play Scotty voice also.

reply

I saw the new film - loved it, got into the original series - loved it - I'm now on the animated series - I've only watched a quarter of the episodes - but I'm loving these too!

I like the fact that they did quite a few things they never got to do on the live action series - eg I really liked the episode where Uhura and the other women of the Enterprise got to save the day - that made a nice change! - i think it was called the Loreili Signal.

I think it'd be great if they did an animated series after this new film! I'd watch it!

Do you have monkeys in Scotland?
~No, but if we did we'd probably deep fry them!

reply

Did you see the goof in that eps with Uhura? Chapel's sleeve turns red for a moment on the planet.
