Star Trek: The Animated Series - Remastered?

They remastered Series 1 - 3 of Star Trek, they might as well finish the job!

This show has brilliant stories, but the animation was so poor. They should re-do it, and bring this old show to life again. They should also replace some of the voice acting. Some of the non-regular cast members gave some pretty poor performances.

Imagine if they did it in CGI and it looked like that.

Before star trek the animated series is remastered I think they should have a
directors edition where they rewrite all 22 episodes that will be increased from 30 minutes to 50 minutes without being aimmed toward kids.

I think that they should do it in 3D CGI like Star Wars The Clone wars has done after everything is done.

Even though this show has been out for awhile listed below is internet address sneak peak in how it looked like before it was released.

Expanding the episodes would be good! I'm sure some of the original writers would help. D.C Fontana still writes Star Trek doesn't she?

reply

D.C. Fontana writes Star Trek Phase II fan series I believe and writes what the Bethesada Star Trek Video games will be about.

reply

We could contact her, and explain your idea. I think it'd be a hit on TV and DVD.

Plus it'd be good timing, IF that new star trek film does well, people might be interested in this sort of thing.

reply

That CGI enterprise looked great. Like you guys are saying. Expand the episodes to an hour in length. Have D.C. Fontana and the old writers write it and have the original actors do the voices. That can be year 4.Then do the same thing with the video games from the 90s that featured the original actors. That can be year 5. 5 year mission complete!

I havn't watched a full CGI episode but from what I've seen its not very impressive so I doubt i'll be replacing my original DVDs. It would be good for the Animated Series to be remastered how ever to get some more interest in the series.

Maybe the ships, planets, landscapes and monsters should be redone in cgi but still made to look a bit cartoon like to fit in with the rest of the show?

Journey To The Centre of the Earth 3D is a complete insult to Jules Verne!

I agree this needs to be remastered.

I believe the animation so bad and there many short cuts taken that it would just be alot cheaper to retape the 22 episodes after they are expanded into 50 minutes.

How would you get some more interest in the series?

If it was remastered, it could be repeated on television like with The Original Series was when that was remastered. So many Star Trek fans have never seen the Animated Series.

Maybe they might have get better voice actors.

I was thinking about the Alan Dean Foster mini novels based on the on the animated series. They were called log books and had 6 episodes in each. He did add some a little more depth to each of the episodes so that they did not have quite the little kid cartoon aspect but more for the teenager set. These novels could be the jumping off point with even more retooling for adults.

I do not think that CGI for Star Trek The Animated Series would be a good idea.

The perfect way to remaster Star Trek The Animated Series is to retape all of the episodes with a $1 million budget defcit.

It will cost extra money of course to pay the voice actors their money.
