"More Tribbles, More Troubles" was a direct sequel to "The Trouble With Tribbles," and "Once Upon a Planet" was a direct sequel to "Shore Leave." TAS was a continuation, not a reboot; AFAIK the only major difference between the two series is that TOS has Chekov, while TAS has M'Ress and Arex but no Chekov.

It is generally assumed that the episodes in the series take place after the events of the Original Series, possibly during the last year of the NCC-1701's five-year mission.
