Who really did these voices?

Which two actors really played the voices of Lara and the Vedalan in JIHAD and Lt. Clayton in THE AMBERGRIS ELEMENT because it was clearly NOT Majel Barrett and James Doohan. Who were they?

Lara sounded hot and Majel Barrett, on her best day, couldn't possibly make her voice sound like Lara's. Clayton's voice was clearly a different actor's and not James Doohan's. That same uncredited actor, whoever he is, also did the voices of Aleek-Om and the communications officer (YESTERYEAR), one of the lesser Aquans "...if we break more ordainments we will be exiled to the open seas." (THE AMBERGRIS ELEMENT), Kaz and Klingon fighting with McCoy (THE TIME TRAP), The Romulan commander (THE SURVIVOR), security officer Carver (THE LORELEI SIGNAL), one of the lesser Phylosians "Praise to the master" (THE INFINITE VULCAN), one of the lesser Kzinti "Telepath's suit is ruptured!" (THE SLAVER WEAPON) and Captain O'Shea (THE PIRATES OF ORION).

I believe that's 11 different characters over 8 episodes. In both Majel and James' cases the pitches of the voices were too high and the timbre too different to have been them. Even though James alters his voice for different characters, the basic "shape" of his voice doesn't change. The same is true for Majel Barrett. Just as our fingerprints are unique and distinct from each other, so are our voices.

I'm suspecting Norm Prescott, Lou Scheimer, Ed Bishop or David Gerrold. As for Lara's voice, I don't have a clue. If I went to a convention and Majel herself did the voice that would probably convince me it was her.

I was thinking if might be the voice of the guy (first name Walter; last name starts with an E) who played ENIK on "LAND OF THE LOST"

"She's Goth. She's never heard of David Lee Roth." RM

The woman sounds a lot like Diane Pershing, who voiced Dale Arden in the Flash Gordon series for Filmation, and Poison Ivy on Batman TAS. The guy sounded like a stock Filmation voice, possibly Lou Scheimer, who did a lot of stock voices. I thought I heard one that sounded a bit like George DiCenzo, who played Hercules in The Space Sentinels and Freedom Force.

The shapeshifter in "THE SURVIVOR" also wasn't one of the original cast; I was watching it the other day, and I could place the voice, but not his name. I think this actor is actually very well known and does voiceovers for commercials presently.

The actor who did the voice of the shapeshifter in "The Survivor" was Ted Knight, who played Ted Baxter on The Mary Tyler Moore show.

Ted Knight was already a veteren of Filmation shows. On their 1967 series JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH, he supplied the voices for both Professor Oliver Lindenbrook (the hero), AND the "Evil" Count Saknussem (who was always trying to kill the Professor).

Good call! I had assumed Clayton was voiced by James Doohan but I just watched it again and recognize the voice as the same actor who also performs the Romulan commander in THE SURVIVOR ("Five minutes, no more!") -- it could be Doohan with his voice being altered, specifically either slightly sped up or slowed down, a trick they also used in PIRATES OF ORION. At one point they even messed up and played his voice back with a big higher speed. The moment is where the Orion navigator announces that both their captain and Kirk are gone from the surface of the planetoid and the 2nd in command replies "Gone?" and it sounds like he's been breathing helium. So that's one way that they could have manipulated Doohan's voice to make it sound different: I think that Kordd from JIHAD is also Doohan with his voice somewhat slowed down. But Clayton and that Romulan commander are definitely the same voice no matter who provided it

And yeah, I don't think Lara is Majel Barrett either, but have no idea who in specific is providing the voices beyond that which is credited. Nice work!

actally doohan can change his own voice. he's like robin williams. in fact, that accent he does for scotty isnt even real. he just put it on for the show. in real life, he's just another american-sounding man.

the reason why clayton's voice sounds dif from doohan's is cuz your thinking of scotty's voice when its associated with james doohan. in reality, scotty's voice does NOT exist. james doohan can change his own voice. he's like robin williams. in fact, that accent he does for scotty isnt even real. he just put it on for the show. in real life, he's just another american-sounding man. he can do several dif voices/accents & showed them off in his audition for the scotty character...they went with what we get in trek today.

james does voice clayton...as well as sord & tchar. & yes thats majel barret for lara....watching that show i would think of deanna's mother whenever lara spoke. majel maybe spiced up her voice a little just to do that character but it is her. she also does m'ress....& the enterprise as well of course.
