Redo the animation

I would love to see a special edition of these with new animation.

Why not? And diversify some of the voices - I found it painful to hear other characters voiced by poorly disguised regulars.

You mean like every voice done by Jimmy Doohan and Nichelle Nichols.

reply

Yes, with the exception of Scott and Uhura, the characters they're supposed to voice.

George Takei and Majel Barrett also did a number of painful ones.

I thought Nichelle Nichols voice was well disguised in "The Survivor."

I think the original show could be much improved if they could just re-track the music. The relatively few tracks and their repetitive nature is enough to drive me crazy (not to mention that the music usually seems to be "wall-to-wall"). After watching a couple of episodes, I get the "action" theme stuck in my head for days!

Sadly, I doubt that all the original elements remain as individual pieces - so re-mixing it with new music - or less music - is probably impossible.

Since many of the voice performances for regular characters were weak as well, they might as well replace everyone, and if the animation is replaced as well, they should just start a whole new animated series instead. Many of the scripts were childish and illogical. Seriously? A giant Vulcan? Starting from scratch, they could make a new animated series that would be every bit as good as the best current 3D cartoons like Defenders of Berk. I'm sure there are talented people out there who could do impressions of the original cast that would be indistinguishable.

reply

I wouldn't. The "remastered" original series episodes lose their charm very quickly.
