Which episode?

Had some floor that opened up and had a pit of hot rocks below and the door would lock and the floor would open with the victim falling into the pit of hot rocks/coals ten feet below to their deaths?

I saw this as a little kid and haven't seen this show in over 40 years but this episode stands out to me.

It seemed like there was some type of door handle the victim grabbed onto to hang on but then even that retracted into the wall and the guy falls in. Bill Bixby is caught in this trap later in the episode but somehow he survives, it has been too long and can't recall how he escapes.

The Illusion of the Lost Dragon. He defeats the puzzle of the door's lock. This was presaged earlier in the episode when he opened the bad guy's puzzle box after a few moments of inspection.

Man, how in the world do you remember that?

reply

We're watching the series on DVD and just came to that episode. LOL

Makes sense.
PS: What's that DVD set going for now?

reply

I believe it's $25 on Amazon at the moment.

I had the memory of that scene as a kid and tried to key in the description of it in youtube to try and re-watch it. Nothing would match so I figured I'd have to key in the exact title. Now that you've given it to me it still didn't work (it isn't there) but it did come up on Dailymotion so I re-watched it there?

It is funny what memories are burned into your brain. I hardly remember anything else about this show. I also remember an escape trick where someone must untie themselves while laying under a metal rectangle covered in long, pointed spikes before the timer expires and it drops on them. They were hidden behind a sheet when it drops and you see blood trickling down the table...the audiences hint that they died.
