where is that guy in green?

ok so i much prefer the older ones with foggy and compo and cleggy - i used to call it the three funny men. but i was watching it today and the other week too and noticed that guy in green who claimed to be related to robin hood has vanished! when did he go, and when did the guy with a moustache move in to compos house and try and get nora batty? its just not the same anymore, they should have gotten rid of it when compo died, he was the only one they ever had a burial on the screen for, foggy, the mechanic guy married to thora hirds character (and thora hird) plus many more have all just vanished without any explainations

He is now in Coronation Street. He plays a wheelchair bound character.
I assume he must have left Summer Wine.
Thinking of characters who vanished, years back Crusher went between series and Barry vanished for some years before coming back.

I always thought the man in green was the funniest one in the group:)
Great actor and he sounds like his from liverpool or lancashire.

Alvin was added to give Kathy Staff/Nora Batty a foil. She had left the show because she felt there was no foil for her character without Compo.

She is still in the series, she did leave in 2001 and then came back in 2003 i think it was. They made it up that Nora was visiting some relatives in Australia in Series 23 I think.
