Who is the actor who played Det. Tracy

Does anyone know the name of the actor who played Det Tracy. He was the burly, blading detective who rarely ever spoke but was mentoned by name and went out with the regular detectives on occasion?

Just finished an episode from early in s3 where Kojak calls to Crocker and Tracy to go and do something and I was wondering: 'Who's Tracy?'

So, he's in other episodes?

Yes several, but he is never listed in the credits.

Man, you're right.

I just watched that Lonnie Blaise "Trade-Off" episode from season 2. They call him by name in that and there's no mention whatsoever in the credits.
