What kind of cigarettes did Kojak smoke what was the brand of...

...of his lollipop?

As far as I know, in the very beginning of the series Kojak smoked
cigarettes. He quit in the eighth episode, then switched to the
lollipops. Is that true?
Does anyone know the name of those cigarettes?
Whose idea was it to use the lollipop? I found several explanations.
According to one source it was Savalas himself who wanted to quit
smoking and came up with the lollipop, another says it was the series
originator who suggested it. Still another version has it that the
makers of Kojak wanted to join in the anti-smoking trend that was
becoming popular at the time.

Those cigs he smoked were Sherman cigs made only by Nat Sherman of New York.

I used to smoke Sherman's when I lived in NYC. There was a big Sherman store on the corner of Forty second and Fifth. (I don't smoke anymore, thank God, but if I did I'd still smoke Sherman's! :)

That is exactly how I found Nat Shermans was when I noticed them in Kojak years ago. Did some research and found out it was Nat Shermans. To this day I smoke the Hint Of Mint cigs. They are great.

Here's a screen capture from Season 1 that I made. Just curious if this is one of the Sherman cigs? http://oi62.tinypic.com/152ztbc.jpg

When i was a kid there was a make of lollies that had a kojak face on the box. Don't know the make but it must've been 5 years after the show ended. so he was big news to lolly makers

He never quit, but he did use the lollipops to cut down on his cigarette consumption... and they weren't always Sherman's they were often "More", the brown 120mm cigarette from R.J. Reynolds.
