I really like the friendship between Theo and Bobby, anyone else love it too?.
They trust each other and have a great deal of personal and professional respect going on for each other.Although Kojak talks tough he really does care about Bobby and all the guys on the team for that matter.
I just saw the episode where Crocker has to spy on his old best friend who's become a criminal, there's some nice moments between Kojak and Crocker in that one where Kojak sees how difficult the case is becoming for Crocker.

Haha me too, I watch it too on itv3, when i saw your post title i thought of that exact episode where you could see at the end how much he cared about him.
I think his relationship with Stavros is great too the way he always teases him about his plants. He's good with the captain too, sometimes its hard to tell who's in charge kojak or the captain.
He seems like a great guy alround and really cares for his colleagues..
Hi thanks for replying glad I'm not alone in loving their friendship.
I also like that episode where one of their colleagues gets killed and Kojak says something to Bobby like "hey....Bobby about shouting at ya in the office....you know I love ya kid right?"....and Crocker says"Lt are you kidding me?"he knows he cares about them all but sometimes Kojak thinks the others don't know it.
Yeah I know what you mean about him and the Captain. The scenes between Kojak and Stavaros are hysterical too, even funnier because they were brothers in real life it seems like real teasing

Kojak really cared for all of his guys. It was especially cool when he went to Vegas and got an autographed photo of Liberace for Saperstein's Mom. I think he and Rizzo were closer than the stories portrayed. I think that they liked to wager a bet on more than one occasion!!!!
great post.rizzo was a great character who also did some sports booking from the police station.in one episode kojak told him "i warned you about booking from the station.knock it off.and give me five on the rangers tonight."
Supposedly Telly Savalas and Kevin Dobson (Crocker) were friends in read life. So it shows. Also, don't forget, Staveros, was one of Telly's brothers so therein, also, lies the closeness. Both were real because the affection in real life was real.
That is one of the main reasons I like the show. I especially like how Kevin Dobson portrays Crocker because he somehow makes him streetwise but still sincere, even a little vulnerable.

Yes Kevin's great and as you say makes him streetwise and yet vulnerable too.

Totally agree. There's great chemistry there. Also between Kojak and Stavros, although perhaps that one is only to be expected. Savalas and Dobson play that mentor/protégé relationship very well, with undercurrents of a real tenderness and affection at times, beneath Kojak's usual irascibility. Hints of Ironside and Ed Brown, although Ed was a little older and more experienced than Crocker.
Did you catch the episode the other day, with the highly strung advertising exec? Kojak gave Crocker one of his lollipops at the end, and told him to take it easy. Nice closing scene. Crocker trying to follow Kojak when there was a hit out on him made me smile too.

That's a very funny scene and I also love the one where Crocker is tailing him to make sure he's okay. They have some great scenes together. Yes Stavros and Kojak get some brilliant scenes too, often very funny ones.
I can see where you're coming from with Ironside and Ed.Personally I always loved the friendship between Ironside and Mark more than him and Ed.

I LOVE that friendship. Sometimes Kojak was like a father figure, other times a big brother or friend, but it was a great relationship. Prior to this show I had only seen Kevin Dobson in Knott's Landing. I just started watching Kokak a few weeks ago. I'm already on Season 4 and about to watch the last season 5. I liked Dobson in Knott's Landing, but he was better on Kojak. I LOVE the way Kojak said, CROCKER!!!!!!! LOL. I read the men were good friends in real life and it shows on the screen. Great team.
Actors are mere products of a good writer's imagination
