was the kojak character married?

im only half way thru the first season
and dont remember from first run. i just
saw an epi with a family wedding and no wife
i assumed he was as he wears a ring, but there
has so far been no mention of immeadiate family.

edit 8/25/08
i'm amending my question instead of deleting
becuz someone else might have the same Q at
some point.

his ring changes from left to right hand
and in an epi i watched last night he
mentions being single.

He had a "true love" played by Lousie Shaffer (Rae on Ryan's Hope) who I believe was murdered in one of the episodes. I "think" (I've got a mid-life memory...:() they were engaged.

And I'm COMPLETELY wrong about Louise Shaffer. She played a junkie in a Kojak episode but did not play his girlfriend.

In "The Summer of ´69: Part 2" (Season 5, Episode 10) Kojak says he is a bachelor.

And in another (or maybe the same episode) he gets his annual physical and naturally, is flirting with the lady nurse; she asks whether he's married or has children, to which, he says. "no" to both questions.

I know in the pilot, Kojak was divorced with children or a child (he tells Lorraine Gary this, when he sees her in the supermarket and "hooks up" with her) but in the rest of the series, he is a CONFIRMED bachelor, and never married or had children.

Interesting because in the made for TV movies, Kojak appears to be wearing a wedding ring but in one of the movies, is asked by someone whether he's married and he states, he is not. Then again, he appeared to be wearing a gold band, possibly not a wedding band, somewhere in the 3rd or 5th season, yet, he is definitely NOT married.
