Trying To I.D. An Episode

I watched Kojak during its original CBS run, but haven't seen it since. A scene in last week's episode of NCIS: New Orleans reminded me of one from an old Kojak episode.

I can't recall the plot of the ep, sorry. The scene I am referring to features Theo Kojak speaking by phone to the distraught father of an officer who was killed in the line of duty.
He says something like this:

"Hello, Mr. (Name). What can I say? I knew your boy..."

There are other lines that escape me. The phone convo ends with Kojak saying something like this:

"Mr, (name), how about I come by your home after my shift and we talk, would you like that?" or possibly "Would that be okay?"

The scene touched me so that it's one of the few I can remember from the series. I'm sure the dialogue i quoted is not exact, but it is close.
Can anyone name the episode?

That is the fifth season episode A Strange Kind of Love. A psycho is obsessed with this New Age radio host and a young cop named Fusari is assigned to stand guard behind her as she broadcasts her show from the window of a local department store. One night when the show is over and Fusari leaves his shift, the psycho, who is hiding in the back seat of the cop's car, shoots him dead. The scene you are describing takes place back at headquarters later as Kojak speaks to the boy's father on the phone.

Thank you so much, mister-mike. I knew Kojak fans wouldn't let me down.

In a world of vampires, one must be careful not to say "Bite me" to the wrong individual
