I loved Telly Savalas but Kojak took Stavros for granted-ALWAYS

Poor sweet, Stavros. All of Kojak's detectives were dedicated workhorses with many talents, and endlessly loyal and tenacious but Stavros' attention to detail, notice for information, which was out of place, and knowledge in general was uncanny. Aside from Kojak and perhaps Captain O'Neil, Stavros' knowledge and intelligence was noticeable above that of his colleagues'. Kojak was not an easy guy to work for: demanding and exhausting, driving, and relentless and he yelled, A LOT. Of all his men, Starvos was never given a break. Kojak always called him names, made fun of his green thumb, his weight, his hair and God knows what else. Well, next to Crocker, I guess this all meant Starvos was deeply loved by Kojak. And yes, I know the two were very close in real life.

Kojak was just jealous that Stavros had a great relationship with his little jungle at the office.😀

Yeah he kinda was taken for granted. He wasn't cruel to him or anything, but I kinda felt he was always dumping on the guy. He was probably jealous of the hair too

reply

Close, yes. They were brothers.

Telly Savalas and his brother George Savalas. In the early seasons George was credited with his middle name Demosthenes to avoid confusion with Telly.

and he yelled, A LOT

That's one of my few gripes with him. When a crime has been committed, he gets into this mean sarcastic thing and yells at his own people almost as if they're the ones that did it, even in situations where there were no warning signs and none of them could have predicted or prevented any of it. I've even seen him do that to Frank.

On a lighter "Stavros related" note- I just watched him crash head-on into a janitor that was shaped just like him while he and Crocker were chasing a pimp through an apartment building. Probably shouldn't laugh, but it was funny in a low tech slapstick sort of way. Don't know how I forgot about that. It's in "Justice for All" in season 5.

In S04E12, Stavros, who is undercover as a bartender, gets his revenge when he insults Kojak for a change, calling him "Baldy" and other things.
