Has this show been officially released on DVD?

No, it hasn't.
Go to tvshowsondvd.com. If you're registered, you can vote for tv shows to be released on dvd. I don't know how much good it does. I've been waiting for this show and a few others for a long time now. I guess it's like a petition site.
The sales have to be through the roof for them to release a whole series like this. Hawaii 5-0 is doing well with the releases. That may even come close to a full series release. That'd be a miracle in itself. Let's see if there will be a 2nd season of Cannon released. Highly doubtful. Maybe just maybe they'll release season 1 of barnaby jones, but that's probably all that they would release. This is why fans are forced to buy bootlegs to get their favorite series.

Yeah like I said in another thread, I think that's the wave of the future. Tivo's and dvr's already have options set up to connect to your hard drive to stream or download vidoes. I think eventually every episode of every tv show will be available for downloading or streaming for a price. That seems to be the direction everything is going in. The studios are unwilling to release anything on dvd unless they're sure it's gonna sell like hotcakes, so obviously the dvd release thing isn't working out. So something's gotta change.

jayhn1111, I agree with this. It is unfortunate, however, because I would LOVE to have at least one season of Barnaby on DVD. It is so worth it, for the theme song alone. LOL!!

yeah that theme is kinda catchy lol. There are plenty of bootleg sets out there with 125 episodes which is what I ended up buying. Quality isn't the greatest, but hey ya gotta take what you can get at this point

Don't get me wrong, I liked GI when it was on TV, and I'll watch the occasional rerun, but I wouldn't spend money to have that show on my shelf.
Since so many other crime show from the 70's are out on DVD, why not Barnaby Jones?

I just read where the 2nd Season of Cannon will be released June 2, 2009. It looks like it will be a two volume release, with Season 2, Volume 1 available in early June. I hope this might be a hopeful sign that Barnaby Jones may eventually be released. I cannot understand why such a popular and long running show has not had even one season released. I have been voting for Barnaby Jones and a few other great classic shows not yet released and hopefully enough requests will help bring Barnaby Jones to DVD.
