I need help identifying a certain episode. I do not know many details.

In it, one of the parents of a young girl (I'm guessing late teens/early 20) died or was killed.

I think Barnaby Jones was a friend of her family.

Jones tells the young lady something like, "I don't want to hear about you moping around.".

The family apparently has a large garden and Jones then instructs the girl to spend time during the following couple of days weeding and working in said garden as a way of dealing with her grief.

Jones tells her something along the lines of, "There's something therapeutic about working in a garden.".

I would very much appreciate any and all info about this episode (name, season, plot details, etc.). that anyone here can provide.

I can't answer your question with the information you described. However, do you remember if regular Mark Shera appears? If he does not, that could mean the episode appeared between seasons 1 through 4.

Also, have you check out the unofficial Barnaby Jones fan page http://www.actorbuddyebsen.info/bjones/ , which lists all of the episodes with story descriptions?
