I wonder if they talked about it on the set of Slingblade? As Duvall played his father in the movie.

I always put this movie on equal groung with SLing Blade and The Apostle. This looks like something Peter Masterson or Horton Foote would have directed.

Ditto all these years later.
And I'm sure that you posted this originally because you're well aware that Robert Duvall played Billy Bob's father in Sling Blade.
But yeah I thought the same exact thing.
