Major Rodgers: 'Can't you see I'm having my lunch?'

LOVE that line in the film, call it unintentional humour!?
As Patrick Magee enters 'Major's' office to see him with a full cooked roast lunch and a bottle of wine with coal fire blazing, while his charge freezes in a dismally bleak dormitory!
I'm sure this sort of scene would not be too far removed from the truth in those days..(it probably still does).

Actually Patrick Magee couldn't see any of this. He was blind.

THAT makes the line doubly effective, as it underscores the Major's insensitivity.

I agree .. I thought it was deliberate to stress what a unsympathetic, insensative guy he was..

As wrong as it might be, I liked the rich guy going to a deadly trap with his dog mauling him to death.

We all did.

How did Magee know Major Rogers had a valuable picture on his wall if he couldn't see?
