this film has nothing on coffy or foxy brown y/n?

i thought this didnt go into anywhere near the same detail that foxy brown or coffy went into it sort of shows a light hearted look at that kinda life.
it was a decent ending but that was about it and the sex scene of course.

"Coffy" is one of my favorite movies. I think "Super Fly" is great, yeah it's different from a Pam Grier movie, it holds it's own and in a very outstanding way.

Comparing this movie to Coffy or Foxy Brown is like comparing apples and oranges. I actually think the success of this movie paved the way for blaxploitation movies like Coffy and Foxy Brown. A lot of people forget that classics like Super Fly and Blacula were the first films of their kind. A rash of copycat movies soon followed in the mid to late 1970s, trying to cash in. Nothing replaces movies like this.

I agree. I watched Super Fly recently and it's not as much fun or as entertaining as a Pam Grier pic.

That's NUMBERWAAAAAANG!!!!!!!!!

Supafly is way better than any Pam Grier movies. The Pam Grier movies are mostly only good for seeing Pam Grier naked. Coffy and Foxy Brown are the only good movies out of all of them.

You're entitled to your opinion as I'm entitled to mine. In MY opinion, Superfly's AIN'T better than any Pam Grier movies. If you disagree, cheers to ya.

Er....what about The Big Doll House, The Big Bird Cage, Black Mama, White Mama, and Bucktown?

reply

Agreed. The only decent thing about Pam Grier movies, at least in my opinion, is Pam Grier herself. Noneof her movies did't even compare to this one, Super Fly, in terms of acting, story line, and most of all, soundtrack (I thought Willie Hutch and Roy Ayers' scores for Foxy Brown and Coffy respectively both sucked!)

reply

Other than the fact that Super Fly was made in the 70's and the leading actors are African-americans it has very little in common with Coffy or Foxy Brown.

One thing is for sure though... Super Fly's sound track is only rivaled by Shaft's.

Foxy Brown, Super Fly, and Coffy are all great in their own ways but as far as blaxploitation films go I think I prefer THE MACK and BONE over these others.

Thank god or who ever directed it for that.

This movie is way better and a Curtis Mayfield masterpiece soundtrack comes with it.

No disrespect intended towards Pam Grier but I wish more blaxploitation flix relied on more than a set of big beautiful breasts.
