Superfly's women

I don't mean to be vain but both of Superfly's women weren't "all that" at all. You would think a nice-looking hustler with a lot of money could afford better looking women. Sheila Frazier was just an everyday average looking woman, she was no Judy Pace, Denise Nicholas, or Vonetta McGee, and the white woman Superfly had, now I feel if you gonna have a white woman, have one that at least look like Farrah Fawcett, Catherine Zeta Jones, Carmen Electra, or Pamela Anderson. Someone on the board here said Superfly's white woman had a horse face. Both of the women were nothing to envy, Ron O'Neal looked better than both of them. I guess because the film was sort of low budget, they couldn't afford beautiful, well-known actresses or a beautiful starlet period. I guess that what makes Superfly so realistic, there's no drop dead gorgeous women like you see in movies today. I think a beautiful actress would have demanded more money especially if she had to do a sex scene, so someone less-known was chosen who wouldn't be demanding. Sheila was just starting out and was willing to do just about anything to become a movie star. She wasn't paid as much as Halle Berry was for her sex scene. If I'm gonna do a sex scene I want top dollar but you couldn't demand much from black exploitation films but fame, and most women were willing to do anything in the movies for fame, and most are embarrassed now about their sex scenes now that their older and have children and grandchildren. I guess the old saying about be careful what you do when your young because it'll come back to haunt you later is true.

Freddie's wife was very pretty and in her short scene as Freddie's gold-diggingn wife, she was sexy. I think she would have made a great Georgia or one of Superfly's women.

Julie Woodson(one of the firt black playmates) was supposed to play Georgia but she refused when they wouldnt pay her too much for the sex scene

The white girl(lol..name?) and Sheila were beautiful and I think they did well

reply

Sheila was beautiful but the white girl was not.

You thought that Priest's women weren't all that, and that Freddie's wife was pretty. But personally, I thought it was the other way around. The fact of the matter is that physical attractiveness is PURELY a matter of opinion.

Georgia may not have been an SI swimsuit model, but Priest must have really trusted the hell out of her. He handed all of his money (hundred of thousands of $)over to her after leaving Eddie's apartment after he and Eddie ended their partnership. I know it was all part of a plan to protect it from the police, but I know I wouldn't have entrusted anyone--not even my own mother--with that amount of money!

Both of those types were considered very pretty in the early '70s.

As one poster noted, beauty is subjective. I personally thought Georgia looked beautiful, especially in the fur outfit she wore during the bridge conversation. Cynthia, as one other poster noted would have been considered attractive in 1972. She had a vaguely hippie-chick air mixed with an Uptown vibe as well. Also, that relationship was partly commercial from Priest's point of view. He tells her she would be his top dealer if she was an actual part of his operation after she tells him some friends of hers want some coke. Obviously she could connect him with well-paying customers, and that may have been a major reason he kept seeing her, not her looks.

Fool I'm just glad he had a down sister as his main woman who had his back.

OP, you may not mean to be vain but your cat claws are showing in your post. I can tell you that Sheila Frazier at the beginning of the bathtub scene looks fine and delicious, thank you very much. The white woman may not be "drop-dead gorgeous" and may be a little too old for the "starlet" category, but she has a nice body and she comes off as well-educated and upper-class-- it may be that Priest was interested in her for other reasons than just her looks.

Hold up folks!!! He was NOT a pimp. He was a coke dealer. :-)

While it's true Priest's main gig was as a coke dealer I too beleived he was also a pimp. During the scene where Freddie owes him money or he wants him to work or something during the meeting w/Freddie Priest tells him something like "SOMEBODY'S working tonight now either it can be you or I'll but that pretty young girl you got on the hoe stroll" and Freddie says "hey man, that's my WIFE you're talking about"
