Question About Murder Contracts

BEWARE OF SPOILER

In the ending of this movie, Priest escapes the clutches of a corrupt police commissioner by informing him that he has taken out a 100k contract on the commissioner's life and his family members as well. Priest says that if he is murdered, like his mentor Scatter, the commissioner and his family members will be murdered too.

Although he did take out a murder contract with the Mafia, as depicted in the movie, what would have been the consequence for the mob if they didn't honor the agreement by killing the commissioner and his family in the event of Priest being killed? Had Priest been killed, and the mob didn't fulfill the contractual commitment by killing the commissioner and his family, obviously there would have been nothing that Priest could have done. And if the murderer doesn't fulfill his contractual obligation by carrying out the murder that he was hired to do, how in the hell could anyone seek remedy? Could Georgia (Priest's girlfriend) take the contracted killers to court and sue them for breach of contract? I think not. Also, being that the killers had already been paid (the movie depicts Priest paying them in a deli), what leverage would you have to ensure that they actually carry out what they had agreed to do?

Well, Priest does seem to be handing them money in the white envelope, but maybe it was just a certain amount in advance, like they often lay it out when hits are arranged in crime movies: "$10,000 now, and the rest upon completion of the job." I imagine he would have arranged some way for the rest of the money to be paid, and part of their conversation might have been Priest convincing the hit men that he has that situation covered.

Nut beat me to it but to PiggyBack; it's not worth a 100Gs to ruin your rep as a Respectable (and I'm certain worth a lot more than 100K) Crime Syndicate.

Not only that, remember he's getting "Out the Game" and has a lot of dirt on "The Man", so it stands to reason he'd have dirt on the very people he hired too?

Or able to make that appearance to them.

They don't fulfil the agreement, they risk their reps and their business.
