Why did Snoopy choose Lila over Charlie Brown? He could've just chosen to stay with him in the first place.

charlie brown is a sad sack of unhappyness and snoopy does not need him in his life. obviously lila is better than charlie so snoopy thus chose him. DUH.

As he said in his letter to Charlie Brown, Lila "needed him." He was probably afraid that if he left her again, she'd get sick again, and this time, might not recover.
