Taken by complete surprise...

I rented this movie through NetFlix because I enjoy watching older movies with either Gene Hackman or Sissy Spacek. However, the last Gene Hackman movie I rented ended up disappointing. So as I slipped this movie into the DVD player, I kept thinking pessimistically, "I hope this movie is better than the last one."

Wow, I was taken by complete surprise! Even though the premise of the movie was a little run-of-the-mill, I still loved the action, suspense, the acting. What I enjoyed most about the movie was the cinematography. When the movie was centered around the rural Midwest, the scenery was reminiscent of the days I grew up in rural Arkansas in the early '70s in farmland country.

I may be female, but no chick flicks for me. I enjoy these types of movies. Highly recommended.

I totally agree. Just curious, what was the last Hackman movie you rented before that?

Lin,

I hear ya. I'd rather shoot Julia Roberts than see one of her movies.

Speaking of Hackman, one of the greatest, have you seen Scarecrow?

Yes, Gene Hackman is one of our great film actors. I'm not sure he's ever given a bad performance in any film, even if the film wasn't so hot.

He's had a truly remarkable acting career so far, and the number, range, and quality of films in which he appears gives viewers a lot to watch & enjoy.

I have not seen "Prime Cut" in many years; Ive made a mental note to see this again soon.

The cinematography is really great. And, the movie has lots of little details - bits of Americana throughout. Great stuff.

Even though much of it was apparently filmed in Canada...LOL
