They don't make 'em like this anymore...


Man, can you imagine if they tried to release this movie today? Drugged up sex slaves on sale like livestock? I love Lee Marvin as the classic tough guy. Hackman as his nemesis and with a woman's name to boot. Just gotta love this film for it's unapologetic pulpiness.

They certainly don't make 'em like this anymore, and they gave up trying decades ago. It's hard to tell who the audience was for this wonderfully quirky little film, but for those who like off-the-beaten-path entertainment, this works in a big way.

Michael Ritchie was an incredible talent who made off-the-wall "job" films. I miss him dearly.

Yeah, Ritchie´s The Candidate from the same year´s even better. And Fletch is a fun flick, too.

"The Candidate" and "Fletch" are terrific movies. I also love "Smile," "Semi-Tough," "Downhill Racer" and "The Bad News Bears." I keep forgetting about all the films Michael Ritchie directed because they were so varied.
