As a big Oscar Peterson fan I ask: So he wrote a piece especially for the film? Is it available somewhere?

I can't fine it anywhere either. Would love to have a copy.

It's on the 1972 "Play It Again, Sam" soundtrack album, though the record is mostly dialoge from the film with an annoying laugh track.

Yes, its a nice piece and I had that album and played it all the time. Wish I still had it.
