Is this true? I Googled it and have gotten nothing as well.

Hehe... I meant to say "it doesn't even mention The Other". LOL. I must be drunk or something.
Anyway, I wrote a blog piece on this:

"It appears he died from something called polycystic kidney disease, which is an inherited illness. I surmise this from an onsite request asking donations in his name be made to the foundation for this disease."
That would put Martin in danger of getting it.
Hey guys, I just got an email indicating the following:
The Guest Book for Christopher Udvarnoky will go offline soon.
The Legacy.com Guest Book for Christopher Udvarnoky will remain online until 10/27/2011, after which it will no longer be available to read or add an entry. The Legacy.com team wants you to be aware of this should you wish to visit, print, or sponsor the Guest Book to keep it online longer.
"What I don't understand is how we're going to stay alive this winter."
His twin brother, Marty, lives in Arizona and I had gotten the information on Chris directly from him. I visit this message board a lot and knew that all of you would like to know. Marty is very inspiring person to talk with and always has words of encouragement. He talks a little about "The Other" and that him and Chris did some off-broadway shows as well. Marty talks mostly about his two children, who he's very proud of.
I see you found the obit online. Did anyone here sign the guestbook?
By the way, someone should contact the IMDB people and let them know so they can update Chris's bio.

How strange it is that I came here because "The Other" is being shown on TCM at this moment. I recall seeing his film at the drive-in and wondering if the boys were going to do more filmwork. They certainly had to carry off difficult tasks in this memorable movie, a real balancing act throughout. I'm certain that the majority of us who loved the novel were very pleased with the film.
RIP Chris Udvarnoky.

This makes me very, very sad. I'm watching "The Other" right now (it was on TCM a couple days ago and I recorded it). I came to this site to find out what became of the boys because they are so terrific in this film.
Condolences to his brother and family.
I'm shocked and saddened to hear of Chris' passing at such a young age. I hope his condition doesn't mean his brother is susceptible. They both gave chilling performances in this film, and they could have had major careers in film had they pursued them.

I hope your sister's family is doing well with the uncertainly, mhearn!
These twins are forever cemented in my minds as children because that was my only exposure to them, so the thought of one of them dying when we haven't seen them age is discomforting. And I know life for one twin becomes very difficult when the other dies.
Hey guys, I just thought you should know that Roger Ebert read my tribute and he is now tweeting about Udvarnoky's passing:

He also tweeted about my review of the film, published yesterday:

Enjoy.

It is certainly better than Ebert's original review of the film from 1972. Not only did he give away the fact that Holland was dead, he referred to Russel as Marshall, and thought Mrs. Rowe was Aunt Vee!!
Not only that but he seems to completely misunderstand the character of Niles "Niles is such a creep - the kind of kid who would pull the wings off a fly and then claim the big boys made him (and get them in trouble, and go out looking for more flies). Kids like that will stop at nothing."
Niles is the sweetest most innocent child you've ever met in the history of film!! Ebert did not seem to get it.
It's a great review.
shareVery sad news. I just submitted the information about his tragic untimely death to the IMDb administrators. Rest in peace, Christopher Udvarnoky.
1,000 mini-bios and I feel like I'm just getting started
My deepest sympathies to Martin. I have known pairs of twins in which one dies and leaves the other behind. It's terribly, terribly hard. That Chris was in one of my favorite films makes it even a sadder day for me. May he rest in peace, knowing that he left a little art behind for all of us to enjoy past his own life's end, as all artists must eventually do.

Thanks to IceBox, I just found out myself about Chris Udvarnoky. I feel so sad about this. My heart goes out to Martin. The Other (1972) was my favorite thriller film as a teenager. I always had to watch it when it was on television. I even have the books and DVD. Chris & Martin gave an impeccible performance in The Other. A very fine performance.

so sad. a fellow fan e mailed me to tell me ,and i was shocked. I remember when Uta Hagen died a few years ago, made me sad, but not shocked as she was elderly, but Chris was still young, its not fair. My heart breaks for his entire family , especially his twin and his parents.

"The Other" is making its annual appearance on TCM, so once more I send condolences to the Udvarnokys and say RIP Chris.
"Let's play the game!"
This whole thread is creepy. I'll just assume that everyone is 12 years old.
shareHi ripshin,
why do you think this thread is "creepy"? Sorry but I don't see what is wrong about paying tributes to a person who died under such tragic circumstances as Chris did.
And what do you mean by supposing the (average) age of the other people posting here to be 12 years? I guess you wanted to say the whole thread is somewhat childish, didn't you? This is a little bit unfair towards the other posters here.
And yes, I am sad, too, about Chris's untimely death. Maybe the best thing we could do is to keep in mind that he is now free from all pain which his disease must have brought upon him during the last time before he died.
Kind regards
Andreas (sprendlinger)
12 years? I was older than THAT when I read the book...in 1971!

Well, that certainly emphasizes the point.
shareThe point 'emphasized' is that a favorite film (or book) remains a favorite throughout your life. It doesn't take a pubescent mind to appreciate it, nor does age have anything to do with continuing to appreciate a good horror story - and this is one of my favorites, has always been, and will undoubtedly continue to be no matter what my age.
