Boycott this movie - A real ox is killed

"Unto A Good Land features a scene where Karl Oskar and his son are caught in a snow storm, and to keep his son from freezing to death, Karl Oskar kills the ox pulling their wagon, pulls out the insides and places his son inside the dead ox. The crew got a real ox set to be slaughtered and killed it for real on camera."

If this is not disgusting, sick, and horrible, then I don't know what it is.
Killing an innocent animal for the sake of a movie cannot be accepted nor forgiven.
If you, as a civilized person, cannot stand to see such distasteful scenes in your movies, boycott this movie and its director. Think about the animals. Thank you.

Are you 12 years old? It's great you love animals so much, but making asinine posts on an empty forum to "boycott" a rather obscure film from nearly 40 years ago is rather silly.

In drastic moments, the man did whatever he deemed necessary to save and protect his child.

I wonder how you feel about the savage Indian beasts eating their own children to survive. Remember that scene? Will you boycott this movie for being disgusting, sick, and horrible for that too ?

I love the snarkiness of your completely misguided post. The ox was really killed, as in they really killed it FOR REAL on camera. There was no father protecting his son. It was actors ......acting.... (except in the part where they REALLY killed the REAL ox by REALLY killing it.

I'm not a huge animal rights guy. I think we should be nice to animals, even though they are delicious. But there is never a scenario where killing something (for real) should be considered art. It wasn't needed. They could have faked it (you know, like ACTING?) and got their point across just fine.

It was going to get slaughtered anyways they just did it there infront of the camera,
And they made sure the meat n *beep* didnt go to waste i bet he became a yummy steak for a starving 1970s swedish child :)

If this movie were made today, I would totally boycott it. If I had been alive when this movie came out, I would have boycotted it.

However, there are a few problems here.

1.) This movie is old, and it's not like many people watch it.
2.) This movie was made during a time when animals in film weren't protected like they are today.

That scene and the horse head scene from The Godfather would never be okayed in today's times, so boycotting a movie that old is kind of pointless.
