It was the best of times... It was the worst of times...

This dates from that period in the early '70s when it was axiomatic that TV movies were crap... Except that they weren't all crap. This one is a wobbler. It is crap by comparison with The Night Stalker, or Don't Be Afraid of the Dark or Gargoyles. But those of us who wanted to see monsters or at least something horror related were (barely) satisfied that this one at least had a werewolf in it - Unlike Scream of the Wolf (1974).

Unfortunately, this movie is indefensible. It is a slow, dull, superficial Southern Gothic Mystery with one of the least impressive wolf men in the history of werewolfery. What's most ridiculous is that Dark Shadows had ended the year before and had a better looking and generally more exciting werewolf. Hell, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea did a couple of styles of werewolf and not only did they look better, they also seemed more threatening.
