something about nipples... (spoilers)

I was watchin Fist of Fury again the other day (with it being one of the best kung fu flicks and all) and i noticed summat that rasied questions.

in the scene where Chen (Bruce Lee) discovers that the cook killed his master he walks into the kitchen, the camera does a close-up of the cook's nipples to which Bruce looks up and goes "you're japanese?"

how could Bruce tell that the cook was japanese by his nipples? is there a difference between chinese and japanese nipples?

its strange but im intrigued as to find out, anyone any idea?

"how dare you"

reply

But, it isn't his nipples he's looking at, it's his clothing. Whatever it is the Japanese character is wearing (I can't remember the name of it) is traditionally worn by the Japanese.

It was the shirt/wrap around he was wearing that exposed him. Not his nipples.

reply

HHAHAHAHAHA!!

I used to think the same thing! What the hell is up with this guy and his Japanese nipples! Hahahaha!

Yeah it looks like he's staring at the nipples. At first I thought they were trying to imply that Chinese don't have nipples but the cloth makes sense.

reply

This thread deserves to be bumped.
If it was just the clothes, why did that Japaniese guy pull up his dress over his nipples after Lee cought him?

reply

it has to be the cloths. the japanese tradition cloths are called kimonos and thats what he was wearing. there is no such difference from japanese and chinese nipples but possibly it could be true if comparing whites and asians.

reply

I just thought the director was trying to throw in some nipple action.

Speaking of Nipples...

When Chen goes to the Japanese school the first time to make the fighters eat the sign. There is one guy who I swear he gives an atomic titty-twister to, who just screams and falls over dead.

I thought maybe it was a difference in chest hair. That dude's chest was bare as a baby's, but then, so was Bruce.

I have been wondering about the nipple thing for like 7 years. The kamono thing makes sense, but it deffinetly feels like they were implying something about the nipples. Me and my dad looked at each other with kind of a "uhhhhh....what the hell?" look on our faces. Glad thats cleared up.

most suspicious bad guy quote from a bruce lee movie:
"nothing to see here! go home! nothing is going on!"
or something

Don't forget, the actor was also Chinese, so it can't be a nipple thing! He also played the uncle in Way (Return) of the Dragon.

reply

But that uncle betrayed them in Return of the Dragon, also they might have put a little makeup on the nipple for the movie, notce the difference in Lee's nipple and the man in question, because, of course, Bruce Lee always takes off his shirt for an important fight...

reply

The thing that gives it away is the Haramaki wrap that the man is wearing. That sort of thing is traditionaly Japanese, meant to keep ones guts in when preforming Harakiri. Its not part of "Chinese" clothing. Thus, Chen can tell the man is Japanese. Not a result of the nipples, sadly, since thats a much better story.

SO Chinese and Japanese people can't tell each other apart just by looking at each other? And if the cook was a hitman, why would he still wear his japanese clothing? It was only a matter of time before he got caught and got is stomach punched in.

Why did he kill his teacher? WHY WHY WHY

Hahaha. A friend of mine and myself used to recite lines from Bruce Lee movies to each other at random times. That was one of them.

Glad to finally get the issue cleared up. I also always thought it has something to do with the man's nipples or torso. It never really made sense to me. Especially since the man covers up his nipples. All these years I thought it was the nipples!
