Something I don't get about the ending... (Spoilers)

Maybe I'm stupid, but if Chen Zhen was just going to be arrested in exchange for Jing Wu Men being protected, why'd he get himself killed instead?

reply

For Chen it was an issue of honour he said if I turn myself over to you will you leave the school alone. In the end he decided being killed by all armed police at the gate would be more fitting than spending the rest of his life in prison. That's what I got from it maybe someone else has a different view on the ending

Chen was guilty of murder. As such he would be sentenced to death anyway. He decided to go out on his own terms.

You are entitled to my opinion, whether you want it or not!!

He defeated all bullets.

"Say, do you hear that? It's the sound of the Reaper..."

Say, do you hear that? It's the sound of the Reaper.....

In Chinese tradition even if you're the hero & self righteous you must face the consequences of your actions. Also with him jumping, screaming & kicking out at the officers with the guns he is subconsciously telling them I'm gonna go down fighting & on my terms!

reply

Why were the people free to point loaded guns at someone in a public street anyway, and then shoot a prisoner dead? Did THEY face any consequences for Chen's murder? I don't quite get the logic of all that. Who were they anyway, and why do they have license to kill? Why would some non-japanese foreign people even want to kill Chen?

reply

Better to die with honor than live with shame!!!

reply

You're damn right, Ken Burke.
