Steve Martin

According to IMDb, Steve Martin is in this film as a policeman - I watched Fist of Fury the other day but couldn't spot him.

Does anyone know what scene he's in?

wow good spotting there. If he did he probably had some mustache or he must have been so youthful you couldn't recognize him. I have it on VHS I'll check it out sometime.

reply

Ok I found him.

*SPOILERS* just in case you haven't seen it yet.

He comes out in the end only when the gang of cops are at the Jingwu school gate to arrest them all for not having Chen. He is one of the cops in a suite with a hitler-type mustache. He so young you really can't tell. He's just standing there frozen. Plus he also shoots at Chen.

Urban legend, refuted here:

watching the dvd Fist Of Fury, watched the part where its supposed to be Steve Martin, and no way thats Steve Martin. unless his had white hair that young and was chubby looking? so i dont believe its him. need Steve to come on tv and tell the world, its really him.

reply

Its not him but there's a guy at the end of the movie who looks a lot like him!

What in the world would Steve Martin be doing in Hong Kong in 1972??

reply

er... Chinese stand up?

reply

LOL. Well...in his early days, he did describe himself as a "ramblin' kind of guy." Maybe he rambled into Hong Kong.

reply

I don't know if this rumour came about as a result but in the Hong Kong Legends DVD release of the film, Bey Logan said (jokingly) in his commentary track that it was Steve Martin. He then apologised in the subsequent 'Platinum Edition' release (featuring an all-new commentary) confirming that it was not really Steve Martin!

reply

Jeez, just watch the movie. It was made in 1972, which means Steve Martin would have been all of 26 years old. There are 4 white guys in that final scene, and there is not a single one younger than 45 years old. The one guy who vaguely resembles Steve Martin is at least 60 years old which would make him just about 100 years old today.

There is no question at all, it is not Steve Martin :

Not THE Steve Martin. When I worked at a studio, there was a guy named Steve Martin who was a friend of Van Williams (aka THE GREEN HORNET) and his office had a big signed Green Hornet & Kato poster.

reply

wow. When watching the movie I thought... wait, that looks like Steve Martin? And then I see here it really was him!
